CONNECTION TROUBLES

Dear gamer!
Please note, you can have some troubles with connection to other gamers and other gamers can have troubles with connection to you. The main reasons are:
1. Your partner or you use any firewall.
2. Your partner or you use any router. Most of routers have built-in firewall programs.
3. Computer of your partner or your computer connected to the Internet by using Ethernet, not directly. Now almost each Ethernet uses firewall.
4. Some versions of Windows have built-in firewall. In some versions of Windows this firewall is turn on by default.
5. You or your partner uses any antivirus program that makes obstacles for connection from Internet.
Please note, if other gamers can connect to you it means that you don’t need change anything on your computer. If nobody can connect to you it means that you have any software that makes obstacles for connection from Internet and you should change settings of this software.
By default each firewall has closed most of ports.It will make obstacles to any connections from the Internet to your computer.
If you use firewall, router or Ethernet and you didn’t change settings of your software, you’ll be able connect to other partners and play Galaxy ranger online, but other partners will not able connect to you.
Please note, if both partners use firewall, router or Ethernet and nobody change settings of firewalls, router’s or Ethernet software, they will not be able play with each other.
Settings that you need in your firewall, router or Ethernet software are below:
1. Public port 2300 – 2307.
2. Public type - TCP.
3. Trigger port 2300 – 2307.
4. Trigger type – TCP.
5. Virtual (game) server must be enabled.
If you have proxy server, you must open ports 2300 – 2307 for connection from Internet in your proxy server software.
If you don’t know how change settings of your software, please, contact with your Internet provider and ask how you can do it.
Instruction for Windows built-in firewall settings is below:
This article describes how to manually open ports in Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) in Windows XP.
When your ICF is in use, playing Galaxy ranger online require ports to be manually opened so that your partner can connect to you.
To manually open a port, follow these steps:
1. From your desktop, focus on My Network Places and then hit alt-enter to go to the properties.
2. Hit D for Dial-up Connection and then alt-enter for properties.
3. CTRL-Shift-tab to Advanced and then tab to Settings and hit enter. Note If the Settings button is unavailable, ICF is not enabled on this connection, and you do not have to open any ports (because they are all already open).
4. Tab to Add and hit enter to open a new port.
5. In the Description box, type a friendly name. For example, type Galaxy ranger: port 2300.
6. In the Name or IP address of the computer hosting this service on your network box, type 127.0.0.1. Note you can specify the IP address of an internal computer. But you typically will use 127.0.0.1.
7. In the External port and Internal port boxes, type 2300.
8. Select TCP and then tab to OK and hit enter.
9. Repeat steps 4 through 8 to open ports 2301, 2302, 2303, 2304, 2305, 2306 and 2307.
