It is a space strategy with a maze game, shooter and RPG
features. In this game you’ll produce different objects, (robot-soldiers, elect
This game has 2 levels: level 1 "Play with the computer" and level 2 "Play with a partner through the internet".
In level 1 you can choose the difficulty level, you can use spoken help, you can save and load the game. The Computer will imitate your partner.
In level 2 you can play with a real partner through the internet, you can use text messenger to write to your partner. Also you can use the SAPI engine to hear the messages from your partner.
If you are totally blind you don't need sighted friends or relatives help. You don't need a screen reader to play this game if you have SAPI text to speech engine installed on your computer.
This
program requires 80 mb free space on your hard drive, Windows XP, Windows XP
64, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, DirectX 8.0 drivers, and a Pentium 4
processor, RAM 256mb or more, 128 mb free. If you want to play with a partner
through the internet, your computer must be connected to the internet.
To
play an online game, we recommend you have an ADSL connection or higher as the
amount of data being sent to and from the internet is quite large, and people
who use dial up connections may experience some sluggishness in game play.
If you want to use the text messenger without your screen reader you need the SAPI text to speech engine installed on your computer.
If you have surround sound system you'll enjoy this game. If you haven't got a surround sound system you can play this game too but you need a stereo sound system minimum to play this game.
After the installation please read this manual carefully.
The first step after installation must be the configuration of the program. For this purpose you should open the program group “Galaxy ranger", that will be in your start menu. Then you should start the Galaxy ranger configuration program. You need your screen reader in this program. Use the tab key to move from one text field to another.
There are 4 text fields, which you must fill. You'll hear the name of the first text field. If you hit the tab key once again, you'll be in the text field that you must fill. You can now type the required data. Then you should hit the tab key once to hear the name of the next text field, and hit tab key once more to move to the next edit field.
The last field is Login. It will be your name when you play with partners through the Internet. Use numbers and letters to type your Login. Maximum size of your Login is 6 symbols. You can't use the space symbol in your login. You must fill all fields and then hit the "Ok" button.
You must configure the game once only. If you uninstall this program and install it on another computer, you need to configure the game again.
Please note, you can change your login only before registration of the program. If you need to change your login after registration of the program you must unregister your copy, change your login, and then register your copy again. So, you can’t change your login after registration.
Also please note, you can unregister your copy for 3 times only.
If you have unregistered version you should prepare it for demo mode.
First of all you should run the configuration program and fill in all fields. Please note, you will use login in demo mode. If you’ll purchase the copy and register your copy, you should change your login.
Then you should register your copy by using temporary product id for demo mode. Temporary product id for demo mode is below:

Please copy this product id to the Windows clipboard, run the register program and click on the button “Register”. Please note, you must be online at this moment.
If
your copy is registered for demo mode, you may play the game with some restrictions:
1. You will
be able to play up to 20 minutes, and then game will be closed.
2. You can
not save and load game in demo mode.
3. Demo mode
will expire in 3 days.
You will be able to try most of game’s features,
even online game.
Each
time you start the program you should activate demo mode. Use the “Demo mode”
item in the main menu for this purpose. Please note, you must be online when
you choose “Demo mode” and hit the Enter key.
So,
you can play the game in demo mode for 3 days with some restrictions. Please
note, this time isn't the same as your computer time. Don’t forget to activate
demo mode by using the “Demo mode” main menu item each time when you run the
program.
After 3 days the demo mode will be unavailable.
You are a Galaxy ranger. You must defend your Galaxy from aggressive civilization ships.
One time you’ve got a message that enemy ship has landed on one of the planets of your Galaxy. Enemies want to build a base on this planet to use this base in future attacks against your civilization.
You must land on this planet; build your base and factory. You will use your base as the command post and you’ll use the factory to produce military machines (objects) to struggle against the enemies.
So, you are already on the planet. You have your base and factory. Also you have minerals. You need these minerals to produce the objects.
Your task is: to find the enemy base and destroy it.
This game is placed on the board 100X100 cells. Your base, your objects, base of your partner and his objects will be placed on this board. So, each cell has its coordinates. For example: 20x35 and so on. Each object will have coordinates of the cell on which this object is placed in the current moment.
If your object moves to the North, its second coordinate will increase. If it moves to the South its second coordinate will decrease. If it moves to the East its first coordinate will increase. If it moves to the West, its first coordinate will decrease.
You and your partner have the bases. Your base position and your partner’s base position will be set randomly. You don’t know your enemy base position in the beginning of the game and your partner doesn’t know your base position.
Each gamer has a factory. Each partner can produce 8 kinds
of objects: workers, trucks, soldiers, elect
Please note only workers can mine minerals and only trucks can transport minerals to the factory. Also please note the maximum quantity of minerals at the factory is 100. If the factory has more than 90 minerals, the trucks won’t be able to unload the minerals to the factory, because each truck transports 10 minerals.
Three kinds of objects (soldiers, space tanks and space
cruisers) can move, search for and destroy the enemy objects. Two kinds of

Please note, only space cruiser can destroy the enemy base. If your cruiser is on the cell where the enemy base is situated, you must hit the delete key and the enemy base will be destroyed. If the enemy’s cruiser is on the cell where your base is situated, your base will be destroyed.
The game will continue till one of the bases will be destroyed.
There are 5 difficulty levels in the game.
First level – is Easy. It is a training level. In this level you will know the enemy base coordinates in the beginning of the game, but computer will not know your base coordinates until the computer’s scout has found your base. All units will move slowly. You will have quite some time to react if you defend your unit or shoot the enemy unit.
On
the easy level, gamers can hit the letter Z to check which weapon to use to
shoot an enemy object when in battle.
Your units can’t go out the game board. If the coordinates of your unit is0 or 99 it will stop.
Other levels are more difficult. You won’t know the enemy base coordinates until your scout finds it. Your units can go out the game board. You have less time to react on each difficulty level.
Please note, in the easy difficulty level you’ll have 100 minerals in the beginning of the game, in the normal – 80, in the hard – 60 and so on.
Also please note, in the easy difficulty level you may have 10 units of each kind simultaneously. In the normal difficulty level you and computer may have 4 military units simultaneously, in the hard – 6 and so on.
If you play the online game, you may have 5 military units of each kind simultaneously.
You can start the game after installation and the configuration of the program. You should find a program group, “Galaxy ranger", and a shortcut “Galaxy ranger on your desktop. Then you can unload your screen reader and hit the enter key to start the game.
After you press enter to start the game, you'll hear a clock sound. Please wait until the program loads the sounds. You can’t skip the clock sound. Then you’ll hear the first sound of the game, you can hit the ctrl key to skip this sound. After the first game sound, you will be in the main menu.
After the program starts, you will be in the main menu. Use the up and down arrow keys to choose menu items. Use the Enter key to select the current menu item.
There are 8 items in the main menu.
1. Play with the computer. Use this item to start the game against the computer. If you select this item, you can choose from a difficulty level, easy, normal, hard, super and insane difficulty levels. Use up and down arrow keys to choose the difficulty level, and use the Enter key to select that difficulty level. If you hit Enter on one of the difficulty levels, you'll start the game with the computer.
2. Play with a partner. Use this item to choose the partner and play with him/her over the Internet.
3. Learn game sounds. Use this item to learn the most important sounds in the game. If you select this item, you can choose the group of sounds and hit the Enter key. Then you should use the up and down arrow keys to listen to the name of the sound, and use the Enter key to review the particular sound. Use the ESC key to return to the menu, learn game sounds. By hitting the esc key again in this menu, it will return you back to the main menu.
4. Final score. Use this item to know your final score if the game is over. After starting the game for the first time, your final score will be 0 points.
5. Send score to vipgameszone. Use this item to send your final score of the game against the computer and against the partner through the Internet to the www.vipgameszone.com. If your score is enough, your name will be in the list of the 10 best players! If you want to send your score to the vipgameszone, your computer must be connected to the Internet and you must be online. Please note! You can send your score to the vipgameszone only if the game is over and your final score is more then 0 points.
6. Test speakers. Use this item to make sure your speakers are in their proper positions.
7. Get your ID. Use this item to find out your ID (login). The Program will use this ID (login) to register you in the partner's list if you're waiting for a partner to play against. Please note, you can use your ID (login) only after registration of your copy of the program.
8. Quit game. Use this item to exit the game. Also you can use the ESC key to exit the game.
If you choose in the main menu, “Game with computer” or “Play with the partner” you will start a new game. You’ll be in the command post.
Use the up and down arrow keys to select the item in the command post menu.
There are 11 items in the command post menu.
Factory – you can go to the factory by using this item. Select this item and press enter key for this purpose. Press space bar key to know how many minerals are at the factory. Please note you may have 100 minerals on the factory maximum.
Items: workers, trucks, soldiers, elect
You should return to the command post or you should hit hot keys to change the kind of the objects. Please read about hot keys in the chapter “Keys for the game”. Use key esc to return to the command post. For example: your current object is soldier 2, but you want to make the current object space tank 5. You should hit esc key to return to the command post, select the space tank item in the command post menu, press enter key and if the current object isn't space tank 5 you should hit key 5 on the keys across the top and not the number pad to select space tank 5.
Use item “Messages” in the command post menu to read the messages from all objects that they send.
Use the “Stop game” item to stop the game and return to the main menu.
If you want to know your base coordinates you should hit key B.
You can produce all objects at the factory. Select “Factory” item in the command post menu and press enter key. This way you can go to the factory. You’ll be in the factory menu. Use up and down arrow keys to select object in the factory menu.
There are 9 items in the factory menu: status, worker, truck and so on.
Select the item status and press the Enter key. You’ll hear how many minerals are on the factory now.
Select one of the next items (worker, truck …) and you’ll hear how many minerals you need to produce this object. Press enter key to produce the selected object. Please note, you may produce a selected object only if you have enough minerals.
For example: you select item “Space scout”. If you have more then 60 minerals you can press the enter key and produce this object. If you have produced the selected object, this object will become the current object and you’ll be able to manage it. If you need to change the current object of this kind, use key from 1 to 0, but if you need to change the kind of the objects you should return to the command post or hit hot keys. Please read about hot keys in the chapter “Keys for the game”.
If you’ve produced one object and you need to produce the next object you should return to the command post, select “Factory” item in the command post menu and press enter to go to the factory or hit ctrl + f keys.
Please note, if you haven’t any minerals you can’t go to the factory.
Also please note, you can’t produce any more objects than the current difficulty level allows. For example, you may have only 2 units of each kind simultaneously in the normal difficulty level. So if you already have 2 soldiers in the normal difficulty level, you can’t produce another even if you have enough minerals.
@ Introduction
You have 8 kinds of objects: worker, truck, soldier, elect
You should produce all objects at the factory. You need minerals to produce the objects. You need different amounts of minerals to produce different objects. If you haven’t enough minerals you can’t produce the object.
You may have maximum 10 objects of each kind simultaneously. So you may have 10 workers, 10 soldiers and so on. Please note, you’ll have different amounts of objects in different difficulty levels.
Each object has limited quantities of energy. It uses energy for all its actions: working, moving, shooting and so on. You can check the energy of an active object by using the tab key. If an object uses up all its energy, it will annihilate and the command post will receive the message about this event. Please note, command post will not receive message about each worker and about each truck annihilation. The Command post will receive a message if all workers and all trucks are annihilated.
You can change the active object by using keys from 1 to 0. Please note you may change active object only of one kind. For example you have active object worker 1. You’ll hit the key 2 if you have worker 2 it will be active. If you haven’t object worker 2 you’ll receive a message: worker 2 doesn’t exist.
If you want to change the kind of the objects, you should go back to the command post and choose the kind of the objects in the command post menu. Use key ESC to go back to the command post.
Also you may change the kind of the object by using hot keys. Please read about hot keys in the chapter “Keys for the game”.
Please note, even if an object is not active it continues its actions, for example: worker - works, truck - moves, soldier, space tank or space cruiser are moving to the current direction and so on.
Also please note, if your object will move and its coordinates will be less then 0 or more then 99, this object will lose connection with the command center and you’ll lose this object. Command center will receive a message about this event. So, minimum coordinates of the object may be 0 and maximum -99.
You can produce all objects at the factory only. You should open the factory menu, select the object that you want to produce and press enter key. You’ll get the new object if you have enough minerals.
Please
note, all military objects have sound volume control feature. Use Page Up and
Page Down keys to change sound volume of background sound and sounds effects.
Only these objects can mine minerals that you need to produce all other objects. Also the workers can load the minerals on the truck.
You need 5 minerals to produce a worker on the factory.
a Worker can mine and save maximum 10 minerals. If a worker has 10 minerals and there is not a free truck near the worker, the worker will wait for the truck and will not mine minerals. You may change the active worker by using keys from 1 to 0. If you change the active worker you will receive a message about its status (working or waiting for the truck).
You don’t need any special actions to load minerals on the truck. If a worker has minerals and there is a free truck near the worker, the worker will load minerals automatically.
So, you should decide how many workers you need and produce these workers at the factory.
Please note, if you haven’t any workers you won’t be able to get the minerals and produce the other objects.
You have the following keys for this object:
1. Tab key – to know how much energy the current worker has
2. Keys from 1 to 0 – to change the active worker.
3. Esc key – to return to the command post.
Only this object can transport minerals from workers to the factory and unload the minerals. You need 10 minerals to produce this object.
You don’t need any special actions to move the truck and unload the minerals. All these actions the truck will make automatically. You only should decide how many trucks you need and produce these trucks.
First of all the truck will move to the workers. If workers have a minimum of 10 minerals, the truck will transport 10 minerals to the factory. Please note, if workers have less then 10 minerals, the truck will wait until workers have 10 minerals.
Maximum quantity of minerals that may be at the factory is 100. So, if at the factory there are more then 90 minerals, the truck won't be able to unload the minerals and it will wait until the factory has less then 91 minerals.
You may change an active truck by using keys from 1 to 0. If you change the active truck you’ll receive message about its status: moving to the workers, waiting for the minerals, moving to the factory and waiting to unload.
Please note, if you don’t have trucks you won’t be able to transport minerals from the workers to the factory and you won't be able to produce other objects.
You have the following keys for this object:
1. Tab key – to know how much energy the current truck has.
2. Keys from 1 to 0 to change the current truck.
3. Esc key – to return to the command post.
You need 20 minerals to produce this object. This object can move, search for some enemy objects, shoot some enemy objects and defend itself.
The First position of the new soldier will be the position of your base. The First direction of the soldier will be north.
Use the up arrow key to start the movement. Use left and right arrow keys to change the current direction of a soldier. Use the space bar key to check the current position of your soldier. Use letter D to check current direction. Use down arrow key to stop the soldiers movement. Please note, if your soldier coordinates is less then 0 or more then 99, you’ll lose this soldier.
If you want you can set how many cells the soldier will move in the current direction. Hit up arrow and number 3 – to move 3 cells in the current direction, up arrow and number 7 to move 7 cells in the current direction, up arrow key + and 0 to move 10 cells in the current direction.
The Soldier can use the search radar to find the enemy’s
objects. Please note, a soldier can search for only enemy soldiers, enemy elect
Use key R to start the search radar. Please note, the soldier can’t use its search radar when it is walking. So, you should stop your soldier before it is able to start the search radar.
If the soldier finds an enemy object you will hear message what object was found automatically, or you can hit key “K” to hear what object was found, if this soldier is active. If the soldier isn’t active it will send message to the command post and you will be able to read this message later.
If the soldier is active and it has found an enemy object, you will hear the target radar sound to your right or to your left. Use left and right arrow keys to move target radar.
If your soldier has found the enemy object, you should
choose the correct weapon to shoot the enemy object. Please note, you must use
laser gun against soldiers, grenade discharger against elect
If your soldier has targeted the enemy object, you’ll hear the target radar sound unbroken. You should shoot the enemy object at this moment. Use enter key for this purpose. Please note, you can shoot the enemy only if you hear the target radar sound unbroken and you’ve opened the weapons menu and you’ve selected a weapon.
Also please note, an enemy object can use its energetic shield. This means you will have to shoot the enemy object 2, 3 or more times before you destroy this object.
If you have targeted the enemy object and you’ve selected the right weapon and you shoot at the enemy object and enemy object defends itself you will hear message “Beside the mark”.
If you want you can stop all radars. Use letter R for this purpose. If you start the movement, all radars will stop automatically.
If an enemy object attacks your soldier, you can defend your soldier by using your energetic shield. Use letter S to turn on the energetic shield.
Please note, if an enemy object finds your soldier, your soldier’s movement will be blocked.
If the enemy object shoots at you, you will hear a laser
shell sound. You’ll hear this sound to the left, to the right or in f
If your soldier appears on the cell where the enemy’s base is situated you will hear the “enemy base” message, you should hit key delete and the enemy will save 15 minerals only, but you will lose this soldier.
If enemy soldier appears on the cell where your base is situated, you will save 15 minerals only.
Soldiers can teleport from its current cell to the base. Use letter T for this purpose. Please note, each teleportation will use energy. So the soldier will lose energy after each teleportation. If a soldier hasn’t enough energy for teleportation, it will annihilate.
Keys for this object:
1. Up arrow key – start movement.
2. Left and right arrow key – change direction.
3. Down arrow key – stop movement.
4. Space bar key – check the position of the current soldier.
5. Tab key – to know how much energy the current soldier has.
6. R key – run and stop search radar.
7. W key - open the weapon menu.
8. Up and down arrow keys – select the weapon.
9. Enter key – shoot the enemy.
10. S key – run and stop the energetic shield.
11. Left and right arrow keys – change position of the energetic shield.
12. E key – to know enemy base coordinates. Please note, you can use this key only after the moment when one of your scouts has found the enemy base.
13. Key B – to know your base coordinates.
14. Key Z - to check which weapon to use to shoot an enemy object when in battle.
15. K key - to know, what enemy object was found.
16. Use keys from 1 to 0 to change the active soldier.

You need 30 minerals to produce this object. This object can search for enemy space tanks, shoot enemy space tanks and defend itself.

If you use the energetic shield you are not able to shoot the enemy. You should turn off your energetic shield before starting to shoot the enemy.
Also please note, the enemy object can use its energetic shield. This means you will shoot enemy object 2, 3 or more times before you destroy it.
If you’ve targeted enemy object and you’ve selected the right weapon and you shoot at the enemy object and the enemy object defends itself you will hear message “Beside the mark”.

If you want you can turn off your energetic shield by using letter S.
Keys for this object:
1. Up, down, left and right arrow keys – change the gun’s position.

4. Tab key – to know how much energy the current elect
5. R key – run and stop search radar.
6. Left and right arrow key – to move target radar.
7. D key – to check the distance to the enemy object.
8. W key - open the power menu.
9. Up and down arrow keys – select the power.
10. Enter key – shoot the enemy.
11. S key – run and stop the energetic shield.
12. Key B – to know your base coordinates.
13. Key Z - to check which power to use to shoot an enemy object when in battle.

You need 40 minerals to produce this object. This object can search for enemy space ships (space scouts and space cruisers), shoot enemy space ships (space scouts and space cruisers) and defend itself.
First of all you should set the rocket plant position. Its first position will be position of your base. You may not use this position for rocket plant. So, you should move your new rocket plant. Use left, right, up and down arrow keys for this purpose. Please note you can check your rocket plant position by using the space bar key. Also please note, you may move your rocket plant only for 2 cells to each direction from your base. When you choose a position for your rocket plant, press enter key to set the new rocket plant position. You can’t use any features of the rocket plant before you set its position. Please note, you can’t change position of the rocket plant after you’ve set its position.
Also please note you can’t place 2 rocket plants on the one cell, but you can place your rocket plant on the cell where there is another object
Rocket plants can search and shoot enemy space ships (space scouts and space cruisers). Use the search radar to search the enemy space ships. Use letter R to start the search radar. Please note, rocket plants can search enemy space ships only, not enemy soldiers, enemy tanks and other objects. Also please note, rocket plant can find enemy space ships only if the distance between your rocket plant and the enemy space ship is less than 7 cells.
If a rocket plant finds the enemy space ship you’ll hear the message if this rocket plant is active. If the rocket plant is not active, it will send message to the command post and you’ll be able to read it later.
If the rocket plant finds the enemy space ship and this rocket plant is active, you will hear the target radar sound. Hit key “K” to hear, what enemy object was found. The Target radar will not move automatically. You can move the target radar by using left and right arrow keys. If you target the enemy space ship, you’ll hear the target radar sound unbroken. at this moment you should check the distance to enemy space ship. Use letter D for this purpose. Then you should check the height of the enemy space ship. Use letter H for this purpose.
You should get the sum of the distance and height. For
example: distance is 1, height is 2 the sum is 1+2=3. Then you should choose
the missile that you should use. Open the weapons menu by using letter W.
Select the missile by using the up and down arrow keys. If sum of distance and
height is 1 or 2, you must choose missile 1, if sum is 3 or 4 you must choose
missile 2, if sum is 5 or 6 you must choose missile 3. Then you must press
enter key to shoot the enemy ship. If you’ve selected the w

If you use the energetic shield you are not able to shoot the enemy. You should turn off your energetic shield to shoot the enemy object.

If the enemy object attacks your rocket plant, you can defend your rocket plant by using the energetic shield. Use letter s to turn on the energetic shield. Please note, you don’t need to change your energetic shield position to defend your rocket plant.
If the enemy object shoots at you, you will hear an elect

Keys for this object:
1. Up, down, left and right arrow keys – change rocket plant’s position.
2. Enter key – set rocket plant’s position.

4. Tab key – to know how much energy the current rocket plant has.
5. R key – run and stop search radar.
6. Left and right arrow key – to move target radar.
7. D key – to check the distance to enemy object.
8. H key – to check the height of the enemy ship.
9. W key - open the weapons menu.
10. Up and down arrow keys – select the missile.
11. Enter key – shoot the enemy.
12. S key – run and stop the energetic shield.
13. K key - to know, what enemy object has been targeted by your current rocket plant.
14. Key B – to know your base coordinates.
15. Key Z - to check which missile to use to shoot an enemy object when in battle.
16. Use keys from 1 to 0 to change the active rocket plant.
17. Esc key – return to the command center.
You
need 50 minerals to produce these objects. This object can move, search for, and shoot some enemy objects and
defend itself.
The
First position of the new space tank will be the position of your base. The
First direction of the space tank will be north.
Use
the up arrow key to start movement. Use left and right arrow keys to change the
current direction of the space tank.
Use
the space bar key to check the current position of your space tank. Use letter D to check current direction you are
heading. Use the down arrow key to stop the space tank movement. Please note,
if your space tank coordinates is less than 0 or more than 99, you’ll lose this
space tank.
If
you want you can set how many cells the space tank will move in the current direction.
Hit up arrow and number 3 to move 3 cells in the current direction, up arrow
and number 7 to move 7 cells in the current direction, up arrow and number 0 to
move 10 cells in the current direction.
The
Space tank can use the search radar to find the enemy’s objects. Please note,
the space tank can search only for enemy soldiers, enemy space tanks and enemy
space scouts. The Space tank can’t find enemy guns, enemy rocket plants or
enemy cruisers. The Space tank can find the enemy objects only if the distance
between your space tank and the enemy object is less than 5 cells.
Use
letter R to start the search radar. Please note, the space tank can’t use its
search radar when it is moving. So, you should stop your space tank before it
is able to start the search radar.
If
the space tank finds an enemy object you will hear a message what object was
found automatically, or hit key “K” to hear what object was found, if this
space tank is active. If
the space tank isn’t active it will send a message to the command post and you
will be able to read this message later.
If
the space tank is active and it has found an enemy object, you will hear the
target radar sound. At the beginning you
will hear the target radar sound in a broken way. Then you will have to target
the enemy, and you will hear the radar sound unbroken. At This time you can choose the weapon and
shoot the enemy.

You need 60 minerals to produce this object. This object can move, and search for all enemy objects, to spy and to patrol your base area. Please note, a space scout hasn’t got any weapons and it can’t destroy any enemy objects. Please note, a space scout can find enemy object only if there are less than 10 cells between your space scout and an enemy object.
The First position of the new space scout will be the position of your base. The First direction of the space scout will be north.
Use up arrow key to start movement. Use left and right arrow keys to change the current direction of the space scout. Use the space bar key to check the current position of your space scout. Use letter D to check current direction heading. Use the down arrow key to stop the space scout. Please note, if coordinates of your space scout is less than 0 or more than 99, you will lose this space scout.
If you want you can set how many cells the space scout will move in the current direction. Hit up arrow and number 3 to move 3 cells in the current direction, up arrow and number 7 to move 7 cells in the current direction, up arrow and 0 to move 10 cells to the current direction.
There are 3 actions of the space scout: raid, spy and patrol. Use letter A to open the action menu. Use up and down arrow keys to select the action in the action menu. Use enter key to choose the action.
Raid:
In this status space scout can move and search for enemy objects. Use search radar to search for enemy objects. Use key R to turn on and turn off the search radar. Please note, the space scout can move and search for enemy objects simultaneously. If your space scout is active and it has found an enemy object, you’ll hear a message and the space scout will send the message to the command center. You’ll be able to read this message later. Please note, there are coordinates of enemy object in the message that the space scout send to the command center.
Spy:
In this status space scout will follow the enemy object that it has found before. The current position of the space scout will be the same as the current position of the enemy object. So, if your space scout has found an enemy soldier and you’ve chose action “Spy”, your space scout will follow this enemy soldier and current position of the space scout will be the same as the current position of the soldier. Please note, if you have chose action “Spy” for your space scout, you are not able to move this space scout or change direction of its movement until you choose action “Continue raid” for this space scout.
Patrol:
If you’ll choose this action for your space scout, scout will teleport to your base and will use its search radar to search the enemy object. Also this scout will use energetic shield to defend itself. Please note, if you’ve chose patrol action for your space scout, you can’t start movement of this scout till you’ll choose action “Continue raid” for this scout.
If an enemy object attacks your space scout, you can defend your space scout by using the energetic shield. Use letter S to turn on the energetic shield.

for some enemy objects, destroy enemy objects and defend itself.

All objects will send messages to the command post about all events. If the command post will receive a new message, you will hear the new message sound.
If you want to read these messages select item “Messages” in the command post menu and press enter.
First of all you will read new messages. If you have any messages you will hear the first of them. Hit down arrow key to read the next message in the new messages list. Hit the space bar key to repeat the current message in the new messages list. Hit the delete key to delete current message from the new messages list.
If you haven’t any messages you’ll hear “There are not new messages” sound.
If you didn’t delete the message you’ll be able to hear it in the old messages list later. Hit letter O to open the old messages list. Hit down arrow key to hear the next message in the old messages list. Hit up arrow key to hear the previous message in the old messages list. Hit space bar key to repeat the current message in the old messages list. Hit delete key to remove the message from the old messages list.
Please note, you can hear the message in the new messages list till you choose the next message or close the new messages list. You can save messages in the old messages list till you stop the game. Each message will be sent from the new messages list to the old messages list automatically if you don’t delete this message from the new messages list.
If you want, you can open new messages list again. Hit letter n for this purpose.
Press Esc key to return to the command post.
If you want you may listen to the messages in the new messages list by using ctrl+n keys in each active object or, in command post, or in the factory. Please note, you’ll listen to message only one time, if you hit ctrl+n keys again, you will listen to the next message in the new messages list.
There are save and load game features in this program. You may save the game at any time if you are playing a game with the computer or a game with a partner.
Please note, you can save the game only if you are in the command post.
So, if you’ve saved the game with computer you can load it later by using main menu item “Load game with computer”. If you want to load a game later again, you should save it again before you stop the game.
Use f2 key to save the game.
How to use save and load features in the online game you can read in the chapter “Play with the partner”.
You can use spoken help in each object. Press F1 to receive spoken help.
If you hit F1, the game stops and you will be placed into the spoken help menu. Use up and down arrow keys to move through the list of help items. You'll hear the name of the keys to help you play the game should you forget.
Press the ESC key to close spoken help and continue the game.
You have access to spoken help in all objects.
Please note, spoken help is unavailable in the online game.
If you destroy any enemy object you earn points:
1. Enemy soldier – 500 + 50 * difficulty level.
2. Enemy elect
3. Enemy rocket plant – 1000 + 50 * difficulty level.
4. Enemy space tank – 1500 + 50 * difficulty level.
5. Enemy space scout – 2000 + 50 * difficulty level.
6. Enemy space cruiser – 2500 + 50 * difficulty level.
If your soldier appears on the cell where the enemy base is situated and you hit the delete key, you’ll earn 5000 * difficulty level points.
If your space tank appears on the cell where the enemy base is situated and you hit the delete key, you will earn 7000 * difficulty level points.
If your space cruiser appears on the cell where the enemy base is situated and you hit the delete key, you will earn 10000 * difficulty level points.
If you defend your unit by using the energetic shield, you earn 20* difficulty level points.
Please note, if you play online game difficulty level =6.
If you lose the game with computer, you lose all points. If you lose the game with partner, you not lose your points and you can send your score to Vipgameszone.
Hit left shift key to check your current score. Hit right shift key to check your partner’s (computer’s) score.
There are some keys that you can use in the game:
1. Key Tab – to check the energy of the current object.
2. Left shift – to check your points.
3. Right shift – to check the points of your partner or of the computer.
4. Esc – to return to the command post.
5. ctrl+w – to make an active object one of the workers, if you have workers.
6. ctrl+k – to make an active object one of the trucks, if you have trucks.
7. ctrl+s – to make an active object one of the soldiers, if you have soldiers.
8. ctrl+g – to make an active object one of the elect
9. ctrl+r – to make an active object one of the rocket plants, if you have rocket plants.
10. ctrl+t – to make an active object one of the space tanks, if you have space tanks.
11. ctrl+u – to make an active object one of the space scouts, if you have space scouts.
12. ctrl+c – to make an active object one of the space cruisers, if you have space cruisers.
13. ctrl+m – to open messages lists.
14. ctrl+n – to listen next message from new messages list.
If you want to play with the partner you should use “Play with the partner” menu item. Then you should connect to the partner or your partner should connect to you.
Please note, online game has some restrictions. You may have
5 military units of each kind simultaneously. For example: 5 soldiers, 5 elect
Also please note, you need more time for an answer from your online partner. If you shoot an enemy object you will need more time to hear “Beside the mark” message or to hear success sound. It can’t be as fast as in the game with the computer.
If you’ve saved your game before and want to continue your online game with the same partner, only the partner who has connected can hit f3 key to load the game on both sides. So, if you’ve connected to your partner, you should hit key f3 to load the game. If your partner has connected to you, he should hit f3 key to load the game. Dear gamer! Vipgameszone can't guarantee that all your partners will use save and load features fairly. Vipgameszone will not be responsible for any tricks of your partners.
The Program will try and save the game automatically if the game will stop for any reasons, but it will be better if you and your partner hit f2 key to save the game before it stops.
If you need to pause the game, use letter "P".
The game will be stopped on your computer and on the computer of your partner. Press it again to resume the game.
If you want to run the text messenger to write to your partner press the F4 key if you are in the command post. Please note, you may start the text messenger only in the command post. The game will stop on your computer and on the computer of your partner and the text messenger will start on both computers.
If you want to close the text messenger press the f3 key.
The text messenger will close and the game will continue on both computers. If your partner closes the text messenger, it will be closed on your computer also.
If you want to exit the game with your partner choose the “Stop game” item in the command post menu and press Enter key. The Game will stop and the connection with your current partner will close. Then you can use the item "Play with a partner" in the main menu, choose a new partner and start a new game with another partner.
If your partner has stopped the game, you will hear the message "Connection is over" and the game will be stopped. You will hear this message if the connection with your partner is lost for any reason:
Examples:
1. Your partner closed the game with you.
2. Your partner closed the Galaxy ranger program.
3. Any problems with the internet connection of your partner.
4. Any problems with the connection of your partner's internet provider.
5. Any problem with the connection of your internet provider.
6. Any problems with your internet connection.
Please note, vipgameszone can't guarantee that you'll not lose the connection with your partner, because it depends from many technical reasons.
If you want to play with a partner over the internet you must be online.
Then choose item "play with a partner" in the main menu and hit enter key to open the connection dialog. It will say "press Y if you are connected to the internet, otherwise press N".
If you are really on the internet hit the Y key. Then you will receive the partner's list from the server. There are only IDs (logins) of the partners in this list who have registered there copy and are waiting for a partner at this moment. Use up and down arrow keys to view IDs of the partners who are waiting for a partner to play.
After registration in the partners list you can get not only partners ID, but partner's first and last name too. You can use SAPI in the connection dialog. Hit the space bar key when you hear the partner's id from the list.
You'll hear the partner's id, his first name and his last name. Please note, you can hear the partner's first and last name only if SAPI is installed on your computer.
Choose your partner and press the Enter key. You'll connect with this partner, if it is possible. Please note, you can't choose your own ID to play against. It is impossible, you will receive the message "Can't connect to yourself".
If you receive the message "Can't connect to the partner" The reason may be:
1. The partner left the Internet,
2. The partner exited the game on his/hers computer,
3. The partner has closed the connection dialog on his/hers computer,
4. Partner started the game with other partner.
5. Any problems on the server of your provider,
6. Any problems of the server of your partner's provider.
7. Some antivirus programs and firewalls can make obstacles for connection to partner's computer from the internet.
8. Partner's proxy server can hide his/her IP address.
9. If your partner uses router, it can make obstacles for connection to partner's computer, because each router has built-in firewall. Your partner must change settings of his firewall to accept connection from Internet.
10. Your partner uses a computer that connected to the Internet over other computers or Ethernet.
But if you can't connect to the partner, may be the partner can connect to you and you will play.
If you choose menu item "Game with partner" and program can't open the connection dialog the reason is that another program on your computer uses the port or ports that Galaxy ranger needs to play the game.
To play Galaxy ranger online you must have the following 8 ports free: 2300, 2301, 2302, 2303, 2304,2305,2306,2307. Microsoft documentation recommends to use ports from 2300 to 2400 for online games. If one of the ports that is necessary for Galaxy ranger is busy that means that you can't play online, because 2 applications can't use the same port.
So if port 2300 - 2307 is busy program Galaxy ranger can't open the connection dialog.
If you'll connect to the partner you'll hear the message "Waiting answer from partner". You should wait for an answer from your partner. If your partner hits y you'll play. If your partner hits N, you'll hear message "Sorry, I am waiting for another partner" and you'll return to the main menu.
If you want to return to the main menu before connecting with a partner you can use the Escape key.
If you use any antivirus program or firewall you will receive the question "Do you want to allow Galaxy ranger to play over the internet?" at the moment when you'll try to connect to the server. You should answer "Yes", because otherwise your antivirus or firewall program will not allow Galaxy ranger to connect to the server.
Please note, vipgameszone can't guarantee that you will be able to connect to all partners at any time, because it depends on many technical reasons.
If there aren't any partners in the list or you want to play with your friend only, not with any other partners, you can wait for your friend. Your id (login) is automatically added to the list when you connect to the server.
Please note, if you close the connection dialog and return to the main menu, other gamers will not be able to connect to you even though your ID will be in the partners list. So you should wait for your partner in the connection dialog.
If you wait for a partner, you can use your computer as you need.
You must open connection dialog, register on the server in the partners list, but the window of the Galaxy ranger game can be minimized. You can run any other program and use these programs.
If a new partner registers in the partners list, you'll hear a special sound. You'll hear this sound after the partners list on your computer will be updated. Your program will update the partners list every sixty seconds.
If you hear a special sound you can return to the Galaxy ranger window and check the partners list.
If a partner connects to you, you'll hear a reminder sound. After this sound you should return to the Galaxy ranger window.
If your partner has connected to you, you must accept or refuse the game.
So, after connection of partner to you, you will hear a message "do you want to play with the partner press Y otherwise press N". After this message you'll hear partner's id. You can use SAPI. Press the space bar key and you'll hear partner's id, his first name and his last name. Please note, you can hear partner's first and last name only, if SAPI is installed on your computer. If you'll hit Y you'll play with the partner. If you'll hit N you'll return to the main menu.
If you don't want to wait for your partner, you can close the connection dialog and return to the main menu or connect to the partner from the partners list.
Please note, you can't play with 2 or 3 partners simultaneously. If you are already connected with one partner, other partners may not connect with you, even though your ID will be in the partners list.
If you have forgotten your ID you can use item "To get your id" in the main menu.
If nobody can connect to you the reason can be:
1. Some antivirus programs and firewalls can make obstacles for connection to your computer from the internet.
2. If your Internet provider uses any firewall or special antivirus programs. Now more providers are using these programs more often, because there are too many viruses on the internet these days.
3. Your proxy server can hide your IP address. In This case the server can't get your real IP address and nobody can connect to you.
But if even nobody can connect to you, you can connect to other gamers and play Galaxy ranger.
4. If you use any router, it can make obstacles for connection to your computer, because each router has built-in firewall. You should change settings of your firewall to accept connections from internet.
5. If you use computer that connected to the Internet over other computers or Ethernet.
Please note, vipgameszone can't guarantee that all other gamers will be able to connect to you any time, because it depends from many technical reasons.
If you or your partner starts the Galaxy ranger messenger you can send text messages to each other.
First of all you can use your screen reader in the Galaxy ranger messenger. So, you can turn off your screen reader before you start the game and turn on your screen reader after you start the Galaxy ranger messenger. Please note, if you use sleep mode in your screen reader, you may have some problems with reading messages, because Galaxy ranger messenger doesn't have a special window. Galaxy ranger messenger will open in the main window of the program. If you have text to speech engine on your computer you don't need to use your screen reader. You can use the SAPI feature that is in the Galaxy ranger messenger.
Some words about SAPI.
First of all, please note, you can only use SAPI feature if the text to Speech engine is installed on your computer. If you have windows XP, This engine will be on your computer by default.
If you haven't got this engine on your computer, you can download it free from the Microsoft site.
If you have text to speech engine on your computer you can use the SAPI feature. Please note, you can hear the messages from your partner and send messages to your partner only if you are in Galaxy ranger messenger. When you hear the signal that you've received the message from your partner, you can read this message. If you use your screen reader hit key f6 to move to the textbox to read the messages from your partner. Use up and down arrow keys to move from one message to next or to preview.
If you use the SAPI feature hit the f8 key to hear the current message.
Use the page down key to hear the next message from the list of messages from your partner.
Use the page up key to hear previous message from the list of messages. Use the f5 key to start writing the message to your partner. If you hit the f5 key to start a message to your partner, your partner will hear a clock sound. This way he will know that you are writing a message to him. So, use the f5 key before each message even when you are in the text box where you are able to write a message to your partner. This way your partner will know that you are writing a message. Use the f6 key to move to the text box with messages from your partner. If you hit f6, the clock sound on the computer of your partner will stop.
Use the enter key to send a message to your partner.
If you use SAPI feature use the f9 key to hear the message that you have written to your partner.
Use key f3 to close the Galaxy ranger messenger.
After payment for your Galaxy ranger order, you'll receive from the vendor your product ID. You'll receive it by e-mail. Before registration of your copy, you must install the Galaxy ranger game on your computer. You must run the configuration program and fill in all fields.
If you have Galaxy ranger registered for demo mode, you should run the configuration program, change your login and save new data. Please note, you don’t need unregister your copy if it has bin registered for demo mode.
Then you must copy the product id to the windows clipboard. Then you must start the registration program. You can do it from the program group Galaxy ranger.
The Short cut “Galaxy ranger registration" will run this program. Then click on the register button. At this moment your computer must be connected to the internet and you must be online.
If you use any antivirus program or firewall you will receive the question "Do you want to allow Galaxy ranger to play over the internet?" at the moment when you'll register your copy. This is my third title I have helped out test and I may say the most challenging.
I'm 32 and am on my second guide dog.
I like playing all kinds of computer games for the blind, and hope to possibly write a game sometime in the distant future myself.
It has been a privilege to be asked to be on the testers team once more, and it has shown me that you can't just throw a game of this magnitude together.

Please note, data in the Internet can be lost by any reasons. |In this case you or your partner can not receive some messages from each other. For example: message “Beside the mark” or success message.
Also some words about firewalls:
If you are running the XP firewall and want to disable it, follow the steps below.
1. Go to the control panel and cursor down to network connections.
2. Press enter on this and press the alt to bring up the file menu, cursor up to properties and hit enter.
3. Ctrl tab to the advanced page and uncheck the box where it says, protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access from the internet.
If you have sygate personal fire wall, you can disable it from the programs menu, launch the firewall and press alt to bring up the file menu.
Cursor up twice to exit firewall and press enter on that. Or you could set it to allow all.
Disabling Norton internet security 2004.
If you need to disable Norton firewall that comes with Norton internet security 2004, do the following steps:
Press and hold your windows key and then press the letter b, that will give focus to the system tray icons. Alternatively, use your screen reader's function to access the systray, insert+f11 for jaws users.
Use the cursor keys to find Norton internet security icon.
Press your application key next to the right control key. If you are using the select a system tray icon dialog of jaws, just press enter.
A context menu with options will open. Arrow down to disable Norton internet security and press enter.
A dialog box will ask you if you are sure that you want to disable internet security, answer yes. (You might need to alt+tab to access this dialog box, some times it loses focus.)
To enable Norton internet security, follow the steps from 1 to 3, and in step 4 select enable Norton internet security and press enter.
Also some words about routers. Each modern router has built-in firewall. If you want to be available for connection from internet, you should change your router’s settings.
1. Public port 2300 – 2307.
2. Public type - TCP.
3. Trigger port 2300 – 2307.
4. Trigger type – TCP.
5. Virtual (game) server must be enabled.
If you have proxy server, you must open ports 2300 – 2307 for connection from Internet in your proxy server software.
These settings allow other gamers to connect to you.
Please note, each router’s software has its special settings and each customer is responsible for changing of the settings of his software.
